Extracting a tooth isn’t something most patients want to have done, but as part of maintaining a healthy mouth, there are occasions when tooth removal is necessary. Wisdom teeth are the most common teeth extractions we perform here at Perspective Dental Centre. That being said, if you’ve sustained sufficient trauma along the gum line, a tooth has become infected, or you’re at the point where you require dentures, dental extraction becomes a strong possibility. From our dental exams to dental implants, our Calgary dentists can help restore the quality of your smile.
Fill in the Extraction Site
As an adult, you can’t afford not to fill in the space left by missing teeth. General speaking, wisdom teeth can be removed without affecting the others; however, incisors, canines, and premolars demand a replacement as soon as possible. If the space along your gum line isn’t refilled, the jaw bone underneath becomes susceptible to degeneration. Missing teeth affect the shape of your mouth and will cause the others to shift. Shifting teeth contribute to problems with your bite which affects your ability to speak and chew in the same way.
